High-Turn-Down, High-Velocity Systems for Scrap Drying & Preheating

Stelter & Brinck scrap preheaters are designed to dry and preheat scrap material as part of the melting process. These self-contained systems can be configured for installation above material conveyors or weigh feeders used for preheating.

Scrap preheaters combine high-velocity burner systems with high-airflow drying capability and high energy input to promote efficient drying and preheating of the material. Preheated scrap can provide a hot charge to the melting process and may help reduce melting time and support production throughput, depending on operating conditions.

FEATURES

Each unit is configured for the specified application and designed to simplify installation and operation. Standard features include:

  • Integrated Control Panel – Includes annunciator, PID digital temperature control, FM-approved high-temperature limit, flame safety relay, main power disconnect, control transformer, and combustion blower motor starter. UL 508A control panels are available upon request.
  • Remote Interface Capability – Available for integration with PLC or DCS systems.
  • Applicable Construction Standards – Equipment can be configured to meet applicable FM, CE, GAP, NFPA, or CSA requirements.
  • Certified Fabrication – Welding performed by personnel certified to AWS D1.1, D1.3, and D1.6 standards.
  • Installation-Friendly Configuration – Designed to accommodate the specified charge conveyor footprint. Each unit is factory test-fired and combustion-tuned prior to shipment.
  • Start-Up & Service Support – On-site start-up, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance services are available.
